Classroom Expectations:
I have extremely high expectations of all my students because I believe that all students can achieve and be successful in the classroom and in their community.
1. Be There: I expect my students to come to class with the focus to acheive. If you come to class open to learning new ideas and concepts, the chances are great for successful learning and engagement.
2. Be Respectful: I expect all of us to respect each other in the classroom. In reading and writing classes, students will expected to collaborate with others in a productive and kind manner. Research shows that collaboration during literacy time engages critical thinking skills that are necessary for today's challenging global world.
3. Be Ethical: I beleive that a student's grade should be based upon summative assessments where a learner can demonstrate their understanding about a standard or concept. Homework is for practive and I do value this practice and feel that this is a key life skill component. I expect students to discuss their learning with me and build their own way of monitoring their thinking. As for homework, I expect students to complete all assignments and if there is an issue that I expect them to discuss these matters with me.
4. Have Fun! I love to read and write and I want my students to develop this affection for literacy as well. In class, we will act, share stories, conduct research and write amazing stories throughout the year. Learning should be engaging and exciting. I want to see students demonstrate an excitement for their work each day.
